Abstract
Adaro Foundation has conducted Early Childhood Education (ECE) Quality Enhancement Program from 2017 – 2018 in the operational area of Adaro Group (South and Central Kalimantan) with focus on Character-Based Holistic Education (CBHE). The Program involved 63 ECE schools selected from 128 ones assessed with tight parameter by Adaro Foundation together with its partner, Indonesia Heritage Foundation (IHF). The program is implemented by IHF for 3 years under Adaro Foundation-s supervision. At least 2 teachers from selected ECE schools were trained intensively to understand and be ready to implement CBHE. The teachers- performance change were measured using 14 indicators divided into 5 levels of ECE management performance improvement category. Monitoring result shows that even though almost all program outputs have been delivered in the forms of teachers capacity building (100%), learning facility support (75%), and facilitating ECE community (100%), 28,57% teachers were not able to understand CBHE concept and how to teach it. The inefficiency of this program was also contributed by parents- and elementary school teachers- opinion that ECE students should be able to read, write, and count (14,29%), internal conflicts (6,35%), lack of learning facilities (6,35%), the influence of local community and culture (6,35%), the trained teachers quit or were moved (4,76%), and teachers- expectation for incentive (3,17%). There were 78% ECE schools which successfully raised to level 5, 17% to level 4, while only 5% raised to level 3. By using the tight monitoring system with measured parameter and indicator, Adaro Foundation could evaluate the program from the previous year and formulate improvement steps which focused on each ECE schools.

Abstract
Nowadays the leadership and management are among one of the most used word on the academic study but still some of us keep being confused about those two words. In one hand, leadership is a must in organization, and should play key role on the business sectors. The leader has to know the clear vision of the organization, and also know how to achieve goal. According to (Amanchukwu, Stanley, & Nwach)to be a good leader, a leader must have an experience, high commitment to the organization, knowledge and high-patience in carrying out its duties (Ameen, Almulla, Maram, Al-Shibami, & Ghosh, 2018). The good leader can impact to the performance of subordinates and satisfaction of the customers. To become a good leader, by increase the leadership development, through many factors, which are the knowledge, independence, training and experiences in many fields (Bass M., 1990);. According to (Jenkins, 2013), that the basis of a good leadership is the strong character and selfless devotion to an organization. In another hand, management authors, theorists and practitioners viewed the management work of a manager as a logical process consisting of the functions of planning, organizing, leading and controlling. DuBrin (1994:26) supported this view by stating that every employee must plan and make decisions, organize, lead and control the resources they need to utilize for the achievement of the results expected of each of them. Many management authors interpreted the concept of management differently. Tsoukas (Ackroyd & Fleetwood, 2000:26) concluded that up to the present time it had not been easy to answer the question of what management is. So this study is done in order to (1) know the concept of management; (2) know the concept of leadership; (3) know what the management do ; (4) know what the leadership do; (5) know the difference between management and leadership; and (6) show its importance.

Abstract
Researchers see problems about the low critical thinking skills of children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten. This was seen during the learning process, the teacher asked only a few children who responded to the teachers question. In addition, it was also seen that some children were not enthusiastic about speaking or expressing their ideas. One part of cognitive development is critical thinking. Critical thinking skills can be developed in early childhood by using materials and methods that are appropriate to the stages of childrens thinking abilities that are still concrete. Learning methods that actively involve children are the most appropriate methods for building their own knowledge, as in experimental activities children do themselves and conclude the results of their experiments, one of which can be done through farming activities. The critical thinking component, namely, observing, identifying and analyzing the experimental class and the control class begins by giving a pre test and ending with a post test. Through these farming activities, children can learn many things and pay attention to the process of growing vegetables, ranging from seeding to growing leaves, so that children can think more deeply (critically).

Abstract
Early childhood education is believed to play important roles not only in the life of young children, but also for a countrys development and hence the Indonesia government has attempted to developed integrated and holistic services from different sectors to optimize early childhood education in the country. Beneath the strategy, lies an idea that children possess certain rights that need to be fulfilled by the state, society, and family. This paper aims to examine the implementation of the holistic integrated approach of early childhood education and development in Indonesia or known as PAUD HI. Using document analysis and site visits that includes interviews with various stakeholders at eleven districts of five provinces in Indonesia, this paper would like to see some issues and possibilities when the policy is being adopted. The findings suggest that there are two main issues with regards to the implementation of the policy, namely the governance and the extent to which the policy can directly reach the children. However, the finding also suggests some best practices pertaining the implementation of the policy such as the policy as best implemented when there exists collaboration and coordination in the village level. This seems to suggest that the implementation of policy could be optimised when the approach is bottom up instead of top down. The finding calls for a better governance system, a more child -centred approach policy as well as the bottom up policy that takes into account people-s voices so that the policy is relevant with the need of the people.

Abstract
A study in 23 ECCE centers in North Jakarta involved more than 500 children and their parents from low economic families suggest that more than 70% of children in the study have age-appropriate competencies in language, motor, and cognitive development. Likewise, parents and teachers who provide stimulation on that milestone have done quite well. However, only half of the young children involved in the study have adequate social and emotional competencies. The study found that teachers have limited knowledge and practices that respond to childrens emotional needs, so does the parent. Meanwhile, these children live in areas with high cases of violence against children. The study further suggests a few actions to establish at the center to better support childrens social-emotional competencies

Abstract
This study examines how significant others perceptions and positions on the formation of childrens self-concept, and how the childs self-concept in Latimojong Village. The approach in this study uses the phenomenology approach to get a picture of communication behavior related to perception, describe according to the meaning of the subject and a thorough description based on the focus of the study while the significant others in this study are mothers and PAUD teachers. The results of research on the description of the childs self-concept based on the perception of the mother as a significant others ie mothers tend to have negative perceptions compared to positive perceptions including physical, psychological perceptions perceived by character came (fussy and spoiled), and children are more dominant having positive stimuli from peers and the media than the mother while social perception is passiritan (shy), so early children are prone to experiencing negative Pygmalion effects due to the influence of negative mothers perception as a significant other. Furthermore, the significant position of others tends to use the nickname of the reproach of children as a joke, using behavioral discipline and emotional control through promises, using instructions rather than persuasion and reactive to mistakes (labeling bingo or stupid) and less responsive to positive behavior of children. So overall the role of parents and teachers has not been significant, so the importance of nature-based approaches.

Abstract
Population growth and economic development over time has the potential to increase damage on earth. The large number of felling trees and changes in land use for development, the increase in millions of tons of waste, the increase in industry and vehicles also contribute to the threat to the environment. The above problems are not easy to overcome in the near future, need a long process and expensive costs. One solution that can be done by every individual is to love the environment and understand the relationship between humans and the environment, that human behavior will have an impact on the environment which will later return to its own effect on humans. Cultivating a love for the environment can be done from an early age, namely by developing intelligence called naturalistic intelligence. This research was conducted to analyze the role of parents in developing naturalist intelligence in early childhood. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection was carried out using observation sheets, in-depth interviews and documentation. The findings of this study reveal that only 42% of parents are developing their childrens naturalist intelligence at home. It was also found that parents who develop their childrens naturalistic intelligence love the environment so much that they want their children to love and protect the environment.

Toward a new vision of quality early childhood education

Abstract
In this paper, I demonstrate the insufficiency of developmental knowledge as the framework of early childhood education quality. For this purpose, I analyse two documents that currently govern the practice of Indonesian early childhood education, the Early childhood education standard and Early childhood education Curriculum 2013, focusing on their sections on developmental indicators and learning outcomes. While acknowledging that developmental knowledge is globally the dominant theoretical orientation that shapes the notion of “good” early childhood education, I argue that its use in Indonesian policy is problematic, at least, for the following three reasons. Firstly, an over-reliance on developmental knowledge has led to the absence of learning contents and outcomes that represent Indonesia-s national identity. An extreme example of this absence is the fact that no mention of the national philosophy Pancasila is made in both the Standard and Curriculum 2013 documents. Secondly, an over-reliance on developmentalism has disconnected the policy notion of quality early childhood education from the transformative vision of education in general. For example, even though contemporary early childhood practice has been influenced by such global agendas as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and sustainable future, both the Standard and Curriculum 2013 have no developmental indicators and learning outcomes that address them. Thirdly, the use of developmental knowledge has obscured the vision of technological advance that supposedly is a core ingredient of the notion of quality early childhood education. Contemporary Indonesian early childhood education has been overshadowed by the technological-industrial revolution discourse. Nevertheless, both the Standard and Curriculum 2013 documents have no adequate space to address this issue. For early childhood education is part of Indonesia-s national education system and considering the belief around its contribution to the creation of a brighter, sustainable future, it is important to include these three issues as parts into its notion of quality. One of the possible policy options to take at this stage is to formulate a set of learning contents and outcomes that directly represent children-s competencies around those issues to accompany the existing limited developmentalistic curriculum.

Abstract
Leadership is not an innate trait. Children need to be trained and taught to be a leader both for themselves and for others. Unfortunately, there has been an assumption, especially in Indonesian Muslim society at large, that boys should get leadership training more than girls since a leader is supposed to be a male. This gendered assumption would lead to lack of leadership training for girls. Consequently, there would be less girls have the confidence to lead. This research investigates social interactions between students and students-teachers that have leadership values. A focused ethnography was conducted in a kindergarten owned by military wives- organisation in Bandung, West Java. A gender perspective was used to analyse who got more opportunity to enhance their leadership skills. The research found that teachers did not planned any leadership training for the students. Instead, the teachers left it up to the students- “natural” play. The children learned leadership skills only in free play without any interventions from the teachers. As a result, a dominant child, who happened to be a boy, led the most. This research recommends a planned and structured teaching and learning to instil leadership skills to all children regardless of their gender and domination in the group. Teachers should interfere in order to provide equal opportunity for all children to learn how to be a leader.
