Abstract

In Indonesia, open field agriculture with short wells is a good agricultural design for coastal areas, such as in Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Likewise, the potential of solar power in the southern region of Java is enough to generate electricity. This technology will certainly be able to help the development of open field agriculture in coastal area. This article discusses about design of a moveable solar water pumping system (SWPS). This system is implemented on a cart that has mobility to move from field to field, then pump water from a short well. Water pump operate using power supply from photovoltaic power generation system. The design is done with; calculation of solar power potential, calculation of water pump electrical load and water discharge requirements, and calculation of system quantity. The design was successfully carried out with the quantity of photovoltaic power generation system as follows; 4 units of each 50 Wp solar panel, 1 unit of 12V and 20A solar charge controller (SCC), 1 unit 12V and 80Ah deep cycle battery, and 1 unit os 500W modified wave inverter. The load use a surface water pump with a power of 150 W with a approximately discharge of 20 liters per minute. The system has been operated to water an open field for 2-3 hours during the day.
