Abstract
The development of Bali tourism aims to preserve culture, nature, and the environment as well as increase economic growth and public welfare. However, in reality tourism development often causes environmental damage and pollution due to the lack of community involvement in the planning, implementation and evaluation of tourism activities. Therefore, research on managing community-based sustainable tourism attractions is important. This study seeks to examine the management of community-based tourist attractions in Penglipuran Village, Bali. The aim is to understand the system and implications of managing community-based sustainable tourism attractions in Penglipuran Village. The theory used in the study is the cultural ecology theory from Kaplan and Manner and the management theory rests on the community of David Korten. This research was designed using a cultural study approach with qualitative methods. Data collection was done by observation, interviews, and document studies. Data analysis was carried out through three channels, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the management system of community-based sustainable tourist attraction in Penglipuran Village is carried out by the Penglipuran Tourism Village Management Institute that involves local community institutions, namely the Penglipuran Indigenous Village. Management systems that involves local communities have implications for the preservation of culture and the natural environment, as well as improving the economy and welfare of local communities due to the development of tourist attractions.
