Abstract

This research aims to determine 10th grade students enhancement of problem solving skill and its level to solve problems on work and energy material. This research used quasi-experimental method and pre-test post-test control group design. The participants are 60 students, picked from 350 students at one of the senior high schools in Bandung district. The samples were selected by purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this research is in the form of essay questions based on problems in daily life. The problem solving skill is measured by pre-test and post-test, based on the Multiple-ways of Rosengrant indicators. The data analysis in this research used the average percentage gain, that is normalized and interpreted using criteria developed by Hake. Based on the research, there is an increasement in problem solving skill on each indicator. The indicators are in “moderate” level with a normalized score N-gain of 0.48. The result shows an enhancement in problem solving skill of 10th grade students at each level.
