Abstract

Water is a basic need for living things. The need for water can be obtained by taking ground water using a pump. The pump that is commonly used is a centrifugal pump, driven by electricity with a working frequency of 50 Hz. Pump rotation is directly proportional to frequency and is an obstacle to optimization. Pump rotation will be adjusted by adjusting the working frequency using Adjustable Speed Drives. Given that Adjustable Speed Drives can generate current harmonics caused by front-end rectifiers that tend to draw current in non sinusoidal and non-continuous forms. This paper will present harmonic mitigation on the performance of adjustable speed drives that are applied to water pumps. Based on mitigation, the risk of loss of the power system can be reduced and even eliminated.
