Abstract
Abstract. Nurses- workload is all activities which are carried out by nurses during hours of duty. If the workload exceeds its capacity, it will directly affect the productivity of the nurses performance which can influence nurses response time in treating the patients. The purpose of this study was to identify the correlation between nurses workload and response time in treating the patients in emergency room. This study employed analytical correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was all nurses working in the emergency room. There were 31 respondents recruited as the sample which were chosen by using total sampling technique. The data were collected by using workload questionnaires and response time observation sheets. The result of the research showed that there is a significant correlation between nurses- workload and response time in treating patients in emergency room with a p-value of 0.001. The conclusion of this study is that less of nurses- workload, the faster of nurses- response time in treating the patients. Therefore, nurses are expected to maintain and improve quality service in treating patients in emergency room.
