Improving Visual-Spatial Ability Through Outdoor Maze Game in Kindergarten

Abstract

This study aimed to determine whether outdoor maze game can improve visual-spatial ability in Kindergarten. The research question of this study was to what extent the use of outdoor maze game can improve visual-spatial ability in Kindergarten? The type of study was classroom action research which conducted into two cycles. The stages in this study were: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects in this study were a teacher and children at Group A in Kindergarten of Bina Bangsa Baruga Kendari which consisted of 14 children. The result of this study showed that teacher-s teaching activities in improving visual-spatial ability in Cycle I reached to 76.47% and in Cycle II increased to 94.11%. While the children-s learning activities through outdoor maze game in Cycle I reached to 73.3% and in Cycle II increased to 93.3%. Therefore, it can be concluded that visual-spatial ability can be improved through outdoor maze game in Kindergarten. Suggestions given by researcher are: for teachers, it is better to use outdoor maze game as one of the learning alternatives that can be used to improve childrens visual-spatial ability, and for schools, it should give and provide facilities that support learning activities in improving childrens visual-spatial ability in specific and general.
