Abstract
Infectious diseases occurred in the hospital called as Nosocomial infections. Most nosocomial infections occurred at least 3x24 hours after the patients were being treated. The spread of nosocomial infections is not only from patients to other patients, but nurses have the potential to spread the infection. Knowledge and nurse behavior are needed to prevent and control nosocomial infections in hospitals. The purpose of this study was to identify the correlation between knowledge and nurses behavior in preventing and controlling the nosocomial infections. This research employed analytical correlational design with cross sectional approach. The population of this study were all nurses in Oleg inpatient room and Janger inpatient room at Mangusada Hospital. There were 85 respondents recruited as the sample of this study which were chosen by using total sampling technique. The data were collected by using knowledge questionnaire and behavior questionnaire. Spearman rho test showed that there is a significant correlation between knowledge and nurse behavior in preventing and controlling the nosocomial infections with p-value 0.001. The conclusion of this study is the better knowledge will be followed by a good behavior. Therefore, it is expected that nurses can increase their knowledge so that they can properly prevent and control nosocomial infections.
