Abstract
The study aimed at designing effective learning materials of English Presentation for the students of Islamic Economics and Business, Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University. The English presentation is one of courses at the bridging course program held by the faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University. This course is to help students improve their public speaking skills when they are delivering presentation for academic papers or businesses. This study was a research and development covering needs analysis, syllabus and material development. Needs analysis was conducted to obtain more input about syllabus and materials development. To identify what students need in the course, the needs assessment questionnaire and interview were developed based on ESP Needs Analysis by Hutchinson & Waters (2008) and Nunan (2004). After conducting needs analysis, it is essential to propose an ESP course syllabus that is well suited to the needs of the students. Then, The materials design was developed by the teaching principles of Genre-based approach and task development model by Nunan (2004). This study will contribute significantly to curriculum and materials developers, teachers, and students interested in EFL learning.
