Abstract

Undergraduate thesis is a scientific work as the last task of a student to complete the undergraduate education. An undergraduate thesis can be the representation of the quality of education, vision, and mission of the departments, faculties, and universities. To find a general description of the undergraduate theses results, a text mining method is needed. Text mining is a process to gain information by focusing on the pattern and trend through a statistical approach, including text input, bring down the patterns into structured data, and evaluate and interpret the output results. The text mining in this research uses RStudio software by the Windows Operating System, while the data input is the undergraduate theses of the Oral Tradition Programme of the Faculty of Humanities, Halu Oleo University, which is stored in the form of digital archives. The output of this research involves information that shows these undergraduate theses offer "ritual" themed trends, and the most common research sites are located in the "desa". The results of this research are expected to be the benchmark for the department in developing more diverse undergraduate thesis themes to increase the literacy of knowledge.
