Abstract

This study aims to determine the perception of corporate human resource managers in Semarang about Competency Certification. The research sample is the companys human resource manager in Semarang, the method of data collection through interviews and the Focus Group Disccusion and the analyzed data are quantitative and qualitative descriptive. The results showed that the companys human resource managers perception of Competency Certification is to understand competency certification, have needs and interests to be applied in the company, most companies have implemented Competency Certification, know the Certification Institute and a place for competency testing, there are cost constraints used for the Competency Certification exam and training time and Certification Test that conflicts with work time. The results also show that companies apply competency certification requirements based primarily on buyer demand and safety reasons, while for reasons due to government regulations, there is no common perception regarding whether there is an obligation to apply Competency Certification. The implication of this study is the need for government assertiveness through regulation and supported by socialization and facilitation in obtaining Competency Certification
