Abstract

This study aims to describe the gender harmonization contained in the text of al Muāsharah by Sheikh Abdul Laṭīf Syakūr. This concept is considered as Syakūrs elaboration on gender equality in an Islamic perspective. Gender equality is one of the 17 goals in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The analysis of this manuscript uses a descriptive analytic method to bring up the facts in the manuscript which are then analyzed in accordance with the objectives and indicators contained in the formulation of gender equality. This research results in gender harmonization which is interpreted as fāsṭabiqū al khairāt as a form of gender relations in an Islamic family. Presentation of the concept of gender relations in al Mu-āsharah leads to Islamic gender equality as an elaboration of rights and obligations between husband and wife. The existence of women in the world of work and the sustainability of education are considered by Syakūr as a fairness. Likewise in sexual relations, Syakūr stressed the importance of women getting the same things as those obtained by men.

Keywords: al Mu-asharah, gender haminization, gender equality, gender relations, SDGs.
