The Effect Of Health Education Using Audiovisual On Knowledge Of Elementary School Students About Disaster Preparedness

Abstract
An earthquake was one of the natural disasters which caused a lot of damage and causalities. Children are vulnerable to disaster, therefore they need to be provided with knowledge about earthquakes since elementary school age. Providing health education with audiovisual is a way that can be done to increase knowledge about earthquakes, so the risk of increasing casualties can be reduced. This study aimed to determine the effect of health education using audiovisual on the knowledge of elementary school students about earthquakes. This research implemented pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test. Respondents were 57 student grade five and six in a Public Elementary School 3 Abuan. Data were collected using a self-developed knowledge questionnaire and was analyzed with Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. The majority of respondents were female (52.6%), with age ranged from 10-12 years. Wilcoxon sign rank test revealed a statistically increase in knowledge after receiving education. Z value =-6.697, p<0.001, r =0.63, median score increased from pre-program (Md= 11) to post -program (Md= 14).There is the effect of providing health education using audiovisual on the knowledge of elementary school students about disaster preparedness.
