Ethnomedicine in Bali: Detoxifying of Copper, Lead, and Arsenic Based on Lontar Usada Pemunah Cetik Kerikan Gangsa

Abstract
The earliest record of medical plant use in Bali is found in the Lontar Usada. Lontar Usada as the foundation of the science of spiritual life and the art of healing of Balinese culture. The one of the popular Lontar Usada in Bali is Lontar Usada Pemunah Cetik Kerikan Gangsa. Lontar Usada Pemunah Cetik Kerikan Gangsa describes the medicinal importance of plants for detoxifying of copper, lead, and arsenic. This paper examined the ethnobotany and to know the use of medical plants by traditional healers (BATTRA) based on Lontar Usada Pemunah Cetik Kerikan Gangsa for detoxifying of copper, lead, and arsenic. We collected the information about medical plants from BATTRA in Bali with in-depth interview method. The results this study indicates that seven of plant species is use as traditional medicine for detoxifying of copper, lead, and arsenic, such as garlic (Allium sativum), jangu (Acorus calamus), gamongan (Zingiber cassumunar Roxb.), hibiscus leaf (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. folium), cassava (Manihot utillissima), lemon grass (Cymbopogon nardus), and coconut (Cocos nucifera L.). These preparation methods include juice (garlic with jangu), inhalation/smoke (lemon grass with coconut), and mashed for rub (gamongan mixed with hibiscus leaf and coconut).
