Abstract

Background: Hospitals are complex and unique entities, they need Hospital Information System (HIS) implementation in order to increase their service quality. HISs acceptance is the important factor for the dissemination of tools and their effectiveness. Purpose: To study the acceptance and obstacles of HISs implementation among healthcare workers Methods: PRISMA guidelines were followed. We conducted searches in online databases such as Pubmed and Medline, written in English and fully accessible by the authors, searched until January 2019. The articles being reviewed are related to health information technology (HIT), clinical information systems (CIS), HIS, electronic medical records (EMR), and computerized physician order entry (CPOE), where the use of most of those applications and technologies is highly integrated. Results: Fifty-one articles were met our inclusion criteria. And it shows that there are many factors that influenced healthcare worker in utilizing HISs, such as human characteristics, and organizational characteristics, there are also behavioral economics concept that affect the application of HISs. Conclusion: Knowing and understanding the acceptance of HISs is important for informatics and healthcare workers because both groups concentrate on acceptance of HISs in the hospital to meet the goal of safe and high-quality patient care. Finally, this study could assist hospital management and IT developers, as well as researchers, to understand the obstacles faced by hospitals in implementing HIS.
