ECOTEXT MAINTENANCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVATION OF SPRINGS-UPSTREAM RIVER OF TENGANAN PEGRINGSINAN VILLAGE

Abstract

Balinese in particular and all languages in general, are cultural resources. The treasures of knowledge about the environment encoded, stored, and inherited in language. In a variety of verbal texts in Balinese recorded treasury of knowledge and experience, including traditional techniques of speech in utilizing, caring for, and preserving the diversity of natural resources in the environment of springs-upstream river especially. Tenganan Pegringsingan Village as one of the original villages, Baliaga, has the intended local wisdom. In this connection, the speech in the village has awig-awig in the form of verbal texts that carry out this ecological function. The aim of this research are to describe the concept of textual construction supported by the terminological ecolexicon which is typical of the use of Balinese language with varied features of Balinese language in the Tenganan dialect, to discover the meanings and values of texts as richness of local wisdom in caring for and preserving water resources with the upstream river environment, and to obtain facts about the level of knowledge and understanding of the milleneal generation in Tenganan Village as heirs to the values of local wisdom. This research is descriptive qualitative. Data obtained through in-depth structured interviews, observations, and recording. The location of this study is Tenganan Pegringsingan Village, Manggis District, Karangasem Regency. The framework of denotation meaning (literal) and external referential meaning helps dissect and find the meaning behind the verbal data. From the research results obtained, it was concluded that the study of Eco-text maintenance and environmental preservation has not touched on the deeper realm related to the preparation of environmentally friendly construction that will maintain environmental stability through speech which is the core of the study of Eco-texts in the study of ecolinguistic theory.
