Abstract
The facts based on the preliminary study showed that most of students find difficulties to communicate mathematical ideas. The present study is aimed to describe the improvement of mathematical communication ability between students who learn through project based learning using mind map technique and students who learn through project based learning without mind map technique. This study used quasi experiment using non-equivalent group design. 63 students of one of elementary school in Bandung city were taken as subject of this study. The instrument of this study used mathematical communication test. The data were analyzed using non parametric statistic. The result showed that the improvement of mathematical communication ability of students who learn through project based learning using mind map technique is better than the improvement of mathematical communication ability of students who learn through project based learning without mind map technique.
