Abstract
Gynura procumbens leaf or usually called as Daun Sambung Nyawa in Indonesia, known as one of the medicinal plant for various disease such as fever, kidney disease, migraine, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and cancer. Thus, this study aimed to optimize the extraction process of Gynura procumbens leaves using response surface methodology as optimization tools. The variables used for the experiment were % Ethanol concentration, solid-liquid ratio (w/v), and time of extraction (h). Result shows that optimum extraction process to obtain extract with optimum TFC (1.95%) and antioxidant activity (IC50 : 191.6) is at 60% of ethanol concentration, 1 (h) extraction and solid-liquid ratio w/v (1:8).
