Abstract

Abstract The purpose of the study to produce an instrument was used to measure the critical thinking skills of students on the theme of environmental pollution based on socio-scientific issues. Tests are used to assess and measure critical thinking skills. The findings in the field that the test is a technique of assessing cognitive abilities have not been developed based on 21st-century skills as ways of thinking that are important to be developed in students facing the 4.0 industrial revolution. This research is development research adapting the 4-D model according to Thiagarajan consisting of defining, design, develop, and disseminate the aims of producing the product. The product developed in this study is a test instrument for critical thinking skills in science lessons on the theme of environmental pollution based on socio-scientific issues. Based on the results of the study, obtained multiple choice test instruments and essays that are feasible, valid, and reliable are used to measure students critical thinking skills. The results of the study were in the form of a question grid, 45 multiple choice questions and 15 essay questions, answer keys and scoring guidelines.
