THE EFFECT OF HIV / AIDS HEALTH EDUCATION TOWARD COMMUNITY STIGMA AT PANCA KERTHA, TEGAL KERTHA VILLAGE, WEST DENPASAR

Abstract

The HIV/AIDS case is still a stigma in the community. Good knowledge can prevent HIV/AIDS stigma. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of HIV/AIDS health education toward community stigma at Panca Kertha, Tegal Kertha Village, West Denpasar. This study employed pre- experimental design with one group pretest-posttest approach. There were 82 respondents recruited as the sample through non-probability sampling with consecutive sampling technique. The data were collected by using community stigma questionnaire and analyzed using the Wilcoxon sign rank test. Based on statistical analysis of the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test, there was a significant increase in community stigma after being given HIV/AIDS health education. The positive ranks = 82, p value <0.001, there was an increase in median value from 51 to 66. It can be concluded that there is an effect of HIV/AIDS health education on community stigma at Panca Kertha, Tegal Kertha Village, West Denpasar. It is expected that public health center is more often in conducting health education about HIV/AIDS in the community.
