Abstract
Government Regulation No.68 of 2002 on Food Security as the implementing regulations of Law No. 7 of 1996 confirms that to meet the consumption needs of evolving over time, food supply efforts made by developing food production system based on resources, institutional, and local culture, develop a system efficiency of food businesses, developing food production technologies, develop food production facilities and maintain and develop the productive land. In the PP (government regulations) is also mentioned in the context of equitable distribution of food availability throughout the region carried out distribution of food through the food distribution system development efforts efficiently, to maintain the safety, quality and nutrition as well as ensure the safety of food distribution. The scope of this paper is limited to efforts to maintain and effectiveness in national food security in terms of the potential of natural resources in Indonesia is abundant in efforts to achieve the survival of the Indonesian nation prosperous, includes the strengthen and weakness. This research is a literature / books commonly called a library research for about 3 weeks. As to the methods applied in understanding the case study about the study of national food security, and then the author analyzes of the data obtained from sources of information, whether it is the reference book, the media / newspapers, as well as through the Internet that support the writer to be able to analyze issues.
