RELATION BETWEN LEADERSHIP–ENGAGEMENT-ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT : EMPIRICAL STUDY OF LECTURER IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Abstract

The main objective of this study is examining the development model based on the theory of involvement, to predict lecturers commitment of three obligation (tri dharma) in Indonesia. We promote and work engagement as research gap solution to solve the contradictions research of relation between leadership research and organizational commitment. This research is quantitative research with cor-relational studies. The unit of analysis in this study are lecturers in the city of Semarang Indonesia, with sample size of 110 lecturers whom were analyzed using (PLS-SEM), through testing outer model and inner model test. The findings in this study indicate that work engagement can effectively mediate the affection of leadership on organizational commitment,. Therefore, a policy strategy that is integrated and based on academic climate is needed which encourages and facilitated activities that relate with engagement continually.
