Abstract

The geographical situation of Indonesia as an archipelagic country and maritime country which has an area reaching two-thirds of its territory has high potential of marine and fisheries resources . This potential has to be relied upon to support the Indonesian economy but is threatened by the practice of illegal fiching. This study aims to design an operational information system using an automatic identification system , hereinafter referred to as the automatic operational identification system , which is installed in the LAPAN Satellite to detect illegal vessels entering Indonesia so that it can increase non-tax state revenues through fish catches. The research methodology used is quantitative exploratory research. This research resulted in the design of an automatic operational identification system for the detection of ships that violated and recognized the income of fish catches. The process is displayed in data flow diagrams, flowcharts, entity relationship diagrams, and examples of reports and illustrations of notifications.
