LANGUAGE TEACHING AND LEARNING IN 4IR: A FLOATING CLASS

Abstract

Language teaching and learning have been constantly adapting various technologies in the classrooms. Blackboard, whiteboard, printed materials, electronic gadgets, analog media, network-based platforms and digital formats are all forms of technologies that are seen in the classrooms for the past and present decades. Yet they are only enabling tools that could enhance the process of teaching and learning. It is the creativity of the language teachers to innovate the pedagogy of language teaching and learning that would help to sustain the dynamism of meaningful education. In 4th Industrial Revolution (4iR), language teaching and learning should move forward integrating digital technologies in the classrooms. A floating class, with appropriate pedagogical principles and technology integration, can address several issues on blended learning, flipped learning, active learning and life-long learning in addition to green technology that is required in 4iR period
