Abstract
The aging process is a natural process that will definitely occur in humans. One of the processes of skin aging is wrinkle (wrinkles). Wrinkles on the skin occur due to loss of skin elasticity due to the activity of the elastase enzyme by degrading the protein elastin which is naturally owned in the skin. Based on this to maintain skin elasticity can be done by inhibiting the work of the enzyme elastase in the skin. The zodia plant (Evodia hortensiss) is a plant that comes from the Rutaceae family that is known to have flavonoid and phenolic compounds. Both of these compounds are known to have elastase inhibitory activity. Zodia fruit extracts and leaves are refluxed using 90% ethanol solvent. The extracts were subjected to phytochemical screening tests, antioxidant activity tests with DPPH reagents, and anti-elastase activity tests. The results of phytochemical screening of zodia fruit and leaf extracts showed the presence of flavonoid compounds, saponins, catechetical tannins, steroids, and essential oils. The results of the antioxidant activity test with the DPPH reduction method were obtained by IC50 from zodia leaf extracts and zodia fruits respectively 264.15 ppm; and 121.59 ppm. From the antioxidant test results obtained inactive zodia leaves, while zodia fruits have antioxidant ability. So that the antielastase test was continued with zodia fruit extracts and an IC50 value of 145.67 ppm was obtained. Flavonoid compounds and polyphenols contained in zodia fruits are thought to be substances.
