Abstract
Algebra is an essential topic in learning mathematics. It is a tool for solving the problem in the related phenomenon in our world. Algebra gives the students how to think systematically and coherently. In another hand, students are difficulties while explaining the algebra aspect. For that reason, we try to examine how and why the students have problems in learning algebra. Particular aspects it will continue to discuss that is concept equality, the equal sign, and variable. The method was chosen from this study is a qualitative method then the analysis by using description. This study shows that most students cannot solve the problem equality because they cannot understand the meaning of the equal sign. Then in the variable, students cannot examine the distributive role, they are incorrect while substituting.

Abstract
The aims of this study is to examine the views of nature of science and technology (VNOST) of the pre-service chemistry teacher. The participants comprising 23 6th semester students of one of the state universities in Semarang, Indonesia. This study utilized a questionnaire and qualitative approach to gathering data. The NOST questionnaire consisting of eight multiple choice items comprising of four aspects: definitions of science and technology, the epistemology, the internal sociology of science, and the external sociology of science. It was found that 78% of the students had incomplete but legitimate views on the definition of science. They only viewed science as a study of principles, laws, and theories in biology, physics, and chemistry or body of knowledge without considering the scientific process behind it. Meanwhile, the remaining 22% consider science includes an investigative process and the process of resulting knowledge. Generally, the majority of the pre-service chemistry teachers still have lack comprehension on defining science and technology both epistemologically and sociologically. Thus, it can be concluded that pre-service chemistry teachers still need to improve their views of the nature of science and technology.

Abstract
This study aims to explore the complexity of macro arguments and the rebuttal of students in oral and written argumentation using socio-scientific issues regarding genetics (mutation and evolution) through the scientific writing heuristic (SWH) approach. The research method conducted was a mixed method with 38 subjects in a science class at one of the public schools in West Java, Indonesia. The socio-scientific issue raised is the use of genetically modified organisms (transgenic organisms). Oral argumentation categorized from level 1 (L1) to infinite level (Ln), and written argumentation level categorized from level 1 (which only contains claims) to level 5 (claim is accompanied by evidence in the form of correct data and relates to the context and content of mutation and evolution). The results showed that the students macro argument level improved on oral argumentation with achievement at level 5 of 45%. The opposite occurs in written arguments, which is a decrease in level after intervention from previously in the range of level 3 to level 2. This is due to the representation of the evidence needed to support the stand point through oral arguments, so that students no longer repeat writing the evidence is in the form of written arguments.

Abstract
The use of renewable material with safe solvents to extract natural indicator of jambolan fruit peels as a substitute for synthetic indicators has been carried out. The results of measuring the absorbance value at wavelength 507-528 showed that the jambolan fruit peels was extracted optimally in the solvent mixture double distilled water:ethanol with a ratio of 1:2 at pH 2. The results of maceration then extracted in two different solvents (n-hexane and chloroform). Testing extract using various pH solutions showed indicator of jambolan fruit peels showing discoloration red at pH 1-2, fades from pH 3-7, purple at pH 8, green pH 9-11 and yellow at pH 12-14. Testing with the titration method shows that the volume of the titration endpoint using natural indicator is not much different from the PP and MM indicator. The data generated in this study indicates that extract of jambolan fruit peels can be used as a substitute for synthetic indicators as the implementation of ESD concept at school.

Abstract
Mathematics and culture are two things seen as something that is not connected to everyday life. Whereas in teaching mathematics in school (formal), the teacher should start by exploring the knowledge of informal mathematics that has been obtained by students from the lives of the people around their homes. Environment can be a source of mathematical problems in real life. One of the environments is culture. Mathematics in culture is known as ethnomatematics. Each region certainly has its own culture, including Jakarta. Jakarta which is the capital city of Indonesia has a culture of traditional houses known as Rumah kebaya. Rumah kebaya has a special characteristic, especially on the roof which consists of a triangle and a trapezoid. The purpose of this exploratory research with ethnographic approach is to explore and explore any mathematical concepts that exist in rumah kebaya which can be used as a learning resource for mathematics as well as an effort to develop ethnomatematics as the basis for mathematics learning. Learning mathematics using ethnomatematics objects can enrich the mathematical applications that are around students and can facilitate students to understand abstract mathematics by using concrete ethnomatematics objects.

Abstract
Fractions are mathematical concepts that are much applied in mathematics topic. Interpretation of fractions in a topic can be different with others topic. Fractions interpretation is an important thing to be understood by pre-service mathematics teachers. Their interpretation can influence their teaching. To investigate their interpretations of fractions, we asked 35 pre-service mathematics teachers to interpret 4/5. The results showed that only 19 participants in the study could interpret fractions as part of whole, quotient, and ratio. There are not participanst which interpret fraction as operator and measures. These results indicate that although pre-service mathematics teachers often use fractions in mathematics topic since elementary school to university, their interpretation of fractions is still incomplete.

Abstract
This paper presents a methodology to prioritize suitable criteria and their sub-criteria for science education through flipped e-learning programs. Here, an operational technique is applied together with multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) and fuzzy-decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (F-DEMATEL) method to outline different components such as instructors, courses and laboratories, materials, technological infrastructures, securities, etc. in flipped science education. In the context of MCDA/F-DEMATEL hybrid and participatory approach, we have selected three major criteria after experts- consultation through analytic hierarchy process (AHP), that is, flipped-learning, science-education and technological-advance. Their weight coefficients and influence are calculated to rank their suitability in a more long-term learning program. With the weighted linear combination (WLC) and sensitivity analysis, the most suitable criteria and sub-criteria are selected for science education through flipped e-learning programs, i.e. technological-advance and infrastructure of information technology. Hence, these operational methods have possibility to be reused and reapplied in different studies and parallel education settings if there are available data. Thus, because online-learning methods are accelerating its development into various learning domains, it could resolve decision-making problems on flipped science education.

Abstract
The purpose of this study to identify misconceptions by measuring the level of students understanding in chemical bonding topic using four-tier multiple choice diagnostic test. The research method is descriptive and the stages are carried out as follows; validity judgement test with CVI value of 0,98, proceeding with a preliminary test on 30 islamic senior high school students in South Tangerang with cronbach alpha reliability (α = 0,663) for answers, (α = 0,610) for reasons, (α = 0,693) for confidence level of answer, and (α = 0,652) for confidence level of reason. This study is conducted at tenth grade senior high school in South Tangerang among 77 students. The results of data analysis shows that the overall percentage of students misconception on chemical bonding topic is 15,14% (low category). The level of confidence in this study is highly significant because it can provide information about conceptual understanding of the students. Students encounter the most misconceptions when determining bonds in microscopic. As evidence, misconceptions in the concept of determining microscopic ionic and covalent bonds results to 41,56% (medium category), and metal bonds with 37,66% (medium category). This misconception is due to the students having limited conceptual knowledge and low visual-spatial abilities.

Abstract
Abstract. This study aims to determine the mathematical critical thinking skills and the level of self-confidence of high school students in solving vector problems. Mathematical critical thinking skills and self-confidence are basic capital that students must have so students are confident in solving each vector problem based on critical thinking processes. This type of research is qualitative descriptive. Participants in this study were high school students of class X IPA in one of the public high schools in the city of Cimahi consisting of 30 students who were determined by purposive sampling technique. The instruments in this study were researchers as the main instruments and supporting instruments, namely the test questions of mathematical critical thinking skills of high school students in vector chapter consisting of 5 items, a self-confidence scale consisting of 30 statements, and interview guidelines. The results obtained from this study are students have low critical thinking skills and medium self-confidence. The low level of critical thinking is caused by students being unable to provide reasons, evaluate answers and identify data / concepts / definitions. Suggestions for further research are habituation of students with mathematical critical thinking skills
